Barbara A. "Barb" Hinson

Barbara A. “Barb” Hinson, 75, of W. 12th Street, Jamestown, N.Y., passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at UPMC Chautauqua, Jamestown, N.Y. Barb was born on December 11, 1946 in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Robert and Violet Anderson Carlson. Barb graduated from Jamestown High School. Barb was a nurse’s aide at Fenton Park, Frewsburg Rest Home, Warner Home and private duty nursing. Barb attended Emmanuel Baptist Church with her children in her younger years. She was a Buffalo Bills fan. Barb enjoyed crocheting, reading and shopping. She liked going out to lunch with her friends. Barb’s main priority was raising and caring for her family. She was a foster mom for over 40 years. Barb’s family would like to thank the nurses on 5D at UPMC Chautauqua. Barb is survived by her biological children: George (Chi) Hinson, III., Kendra Hinson and Jennifer (Truman) Leeper all of Jamestown, N.Y.; eight children: Christine Hinson of Rochester, N.Y., Erica Hinson of Jamestown, N.Y., Diane McNeely of Jamestown, N.Y., Christina Hinson of Rochester, N.Y., Steven Hinson of Warren, PA, Joshua Hinson of N.C., Brittney Hinson of Jamestown, N.Y. and Brittnay Hinson of Jamestown, N.Y.; four granddaughters: Aniyah Richardson, Nayla Torres, Ryah Leeper and Tamia Leeper; close friends: Cheryl Olson and Cheryl Carlton. In addition to Barb’s family, she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Hinson, Jr. whom she married on September 4, 1971 and who died on March 25, 2001; her brother: Robert Carlson and her sister: Marcia Johnson. Family and friends may call at Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, Inc., 316 East Fifth Street, Jamestown, N.Y. on Monday, February 28th from 1-2 PM. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM. The Rev. LeRoy Walker, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, N.Y.
