Clarence Calalesina

July 30, 1923 - October 13, 2013

Clarence Calalesina, 90, of 301 S. Main St., died at 2:27 A.M. Sunday (Oct. 13, 2013) in WCA Hospital. He was born July 30, 1923 in Jamestown, the son of Charles and Mary Felanzo Calalesina. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he participated in the European Campaign in France, and later served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Prior to retiring in 1986, he had been employed for over 35 years as a molder at Jamestown Malleable Iron Division of Blackstone Corp. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church, and was a member of Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the War Vets Recreation Club, and was a life member of John W. Tiffany Post 53, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and golfing. He also enjoyed staying in touch with his friends from the Army, and attending Army reunions. Surviving are his wife, Carrie Anzideo Calalesina, whom he married Sept. 20, 1947 in St. John Catholic Church; two sons: Charles (Jana) Calalesina of Ravenna, Ohio and Thomas (Sandy) Calalesina of Lakewood; four grandchildren: Kevin J. Calalesina of Lakewood, Ohio, Marsha M. Calalesina of Ravenna, Ohio, Sarah R. Calalesina of Key West, Fla., and Ryan (Megan) Calalesina of Hamburg, N.Y.; a great grandson, James Bennett of Ravenna, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Ricotta; and by a brother, Anthony Calalesina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 7:00 P.M.
