Donald O’Jake Coulter, Sr., 84, died Aug. 13, 2013 at the home where he resided with his daughter and son in law at 907 Prendergast Ave. He was born June 14, 1929 in Jamestown, the son of Donald and Gereatha Cobb Coulter. Also known as “Jake”, Don was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Boys’ Club and Herman Kent Post #638 American Legion. He was the owner and operator of Don’s Reconditioning for many years, and worked hard all his life. A timid and kind man, he was a good father and friend. He enjoyed bowling and will be remembered for this trade mark cigar. Surviving are his wife, Lori Anderson Coulter; five daughters: Janice Y. (Royce) Duvall, Gloria J. (Wendell) Butler, Darlene S. (Kenneth) Campbell, Joan Ferguson, and Princess G. (Timothy) Coulter; nine grandchildren: Tyson, Kevin, Wendell, Sr., Levain, William, Ronquike, Keisha, Gabrille, and Chloe; twenty-nine great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Coulter; his son, Donald O’Jake Coulter, III in 1996; a granddaughter, Ebony Duvall in 2013; and a great great granddaughter, Samaya Maisonet in 2012.
