Harold M. Henson

Harold M. Henson, 65, of 1627 W. Third St., died at 3:38 A.M. Sunday (Dec. 11, 2011) in his home. An area resident since 1983, he was born Oct. 4, 1946 in Baltimore, Md., the son of Andrew and Mildred Bond Henson. A graduate of Central Consolidated High School in Hickory, Md., he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Prior to retiring in 2005, he had been employed by Marlin Rockwell Corp. In earlier years he had worked at the Cassadaga Job Corps Center, and had been a police officer in Maryland. Always family oriented, his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved art, and enjoyed visiting casinos. Surviving are his wife, Betty Singleton Henson, whom he married Dec. 11, 1979 in Bel Air, Md.; six children: Harold M. Henson, Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Tamara Henson of Springfield, Mass., Marchael (Mike) Crocker of Spring Lake, N.C., Michael (Tara) Singleton of Bel Air, Md., Beth (Rick) Tirella of Hawley, Pa., and Jerod (Linnea) Henson of Jamestown; twenty grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Lindsey (Linda) Henson of Elk Grove, Cal., two sisters: Barbara Walton and Lida Henson, both of Aberdeen, Md,; a brother-in-law, Charles King of Perryville, Md.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Harry Henson; and by two sisters: Andrea Spruill and Gladys King. The funeral will be at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. The Rev. Tim Phelps, Hospice chaplain, will officiate.
