Helen Spencer

June 3, 1921 - January 14, 2003

Helen "Romayne" Spencer, beloved wife of the late Roy (Rudy) Spencer passed away on Jan. 8th, 2003 in Heritage Village, Gerry, New York Romayne was a life long resident of Jamestown, NY. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who had enjoyed bowling as well as playing cards and Bingo. She also enjoyed her large collection of dolls. Romayne has worked in various places in Jamestown and for a number of years owned and helped run an Antique Shop on Foote Avenue in Jamestown. Born Helen Romayne Holdridge on June 3, 1921 in Jamestown NY, she was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Holdridge and Helen Sikstrom Holdridge and her husband Rudy who died in May 1995 as well as a son, Stephen who died in Jan. 1986. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Everett, Warren and Earl as well as an infant sister Evelyn. Romayne is survived by 2 children, Barbara Jean Jenner of Jamestown and Larry L. Spencer of Clarence, NY and 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Scalf of Jamestown and David Flasher of Lakewood, Jeffrey Spencer of Lakewood and Darcy Spencer of West Ellicott as well as 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Allen Clayton Holdridge of Jamestown. The family is asking that any Memorials be sent to Heritage Village, Route 60, Box 351, Gerry, New York 14740. Rev. Douglas Knopp, pastor of Christ First United Methodist Church will officiate at the service. Inurnment will be in Lake View Cemetery.
