James Purson Lathan, 23, of 801 Cherry St., died at 2:48 P.M. Tuesday (August 13, 2002) in the WCA Hospital emergency department. He was born Oct. 12, 1978 in Detroit, Mich., the son of James Garfield Witcher and the late Joann Lathan Witcher. He attended Jamestown High School, and was a member of Alpha Omega Church of God in Christ in Detroit. He enjoyed singing, dancing, and rapping, and took great pride in bragging about his son. He will be missed by his life-long friend since childhood, Damien Taylor. Survivors: Father - James Garfield Witcher Son - Tommy Lathan Wofford Sisters - LaShondra Collins, Monique Lathan Brother - Rondell Lathan Paternal Grandmother - Nannie Witcher Paternal Grandfather - James Witcher 5 Nieces, 4 Nephews He was preceded in death by his mother and his maternal grandparents, Isiah and Lula Lathan. Rev. Leroy Walker will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in Lake View Cemetery.
