Lawrence Rinaldo

Lawrence J. Rinaldo, 79, of 525 Front St., formerly of 116 Avalon Blvd., West Ellicott, died Sunday (Jan. 7, 2007) in his home. He was born July 19, 1927 in Jamestown, the son of Charles and Selma Helberg Rinaldo. A 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School, Mr. Rinaldo was a U.S. Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, serving in Japan from 1945 to 1947, and in Korea from 1950 to 1951. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he had been employed first by American Telephone and Telegraph Co., and later by the former Jamestown Telephone Co., which became Alltel. During his career he installed telephone offices throughout the United States. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #145, Free and Accepted Masons, and was a former member of Christ First United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons: Steven A. Rinaldo, and his wife Linda of Jamestown, and Charles A. Rinaldo of Raliegh, N.C.; a daughter, Laurel A. Golash and her husband Ed of Syracuse; eight grandchildren: Michael and Eric Rinaldo of Colorado, Drew, Brett, and Troy Rinaldo, all of Jamestown, Signe Golash of Syracuse, Steven R. Rinaldo of Raliegh, N.C., and Erik Eckstrand of Buffalo; a brother, Reuben Rinaldo of Jamestown; and a sister, Margaret Rickard of Spartanburg, S.C. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorisann G. Gustavson, whom he married Feb. 23, 1952, and who died Nov. 15, 2001; four brothers: Ivor, Paul, Robert, and Walter Rinaldo; and by two sisters: Helen Morris and Lillian Anderson. The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in Christ Chapel of Christ First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Douglas M. Knopp, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
