Mae K. Miller, 104, formerly of Busti, died at 4:50 A.M. Wednesday (June 12, 2013) in Heritage Green Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing She was born Sept. 2, 1908 in Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa Jayco Berdine. Prior to retiring, she had been employed as a cook at the St. Elmo Hotel in Chautauqua, and in earlier years had worked in the spinning department of National Worsted Mills. She loved animals and loved to share her bountiful cooking. Surviving are three nieces: Marilyn James of Lakewood, Betty Jean James of Anderson, S.C., and Dorothy Keelean of Casa Grande, Ariz.; several great nieces and nephews; and several great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Miller, whom she married Sept. 14, 1927, and who died Sept. 15, 1981; by two sisters: Pearl Clark and Louise Thompson; a brother, Clarence Berdine; and by two nephews: Gerald and Russel Clark. A graveside service will be in Fluvanna Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. To send a message to the family, visit www.presentsixbeyfuneral.com.
