Maggie King

Maggie T. King, 91, formerly of the Frewsburg Rest Home, Carlson Towers, and Buffalo, died at 7:35 P.M. Thursday in the Lutheran Retirement Home. She was born January 4, 1913 in Abbeville, S.C., a daughter of Will and Catharine Howland Thomas. Prior to retiring, she had employed as a domestic worker in the Buffalo area. She was a member of the Emmanuel Temple Church, and was a charter member of the Greater Emmanuel Temple in Buffalo, where she served as the head of the dining hall and was a member of the Deacons? Wives organization. An avid amateur photographer, she will be remembered for her calm, quiet, and even-tempered manner. She is survived by a son, Frederick Thomas of Honolulu, Hawaii; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Ann Lee of Jamaica, N.Y., and a foster daughter who looked after her, Dr. Georgiana D. Stewart of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her husband, John King, whom she married January 9, 1946 in Buffalo, and who died April 26, 1975; a son, Otis Thomas; and several brothers and sisters. The funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday in Emmanuel Temple. The Rev. Uvie Stewart, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
